THE STORY OF CUSTOM WASHING LINES
For decades we used the common, PVC coated mild steel washing lines which stretched and sometimes left our clean washing dragging on the floor. Sometimes they broke and we knotted them back together and sometimes the exposed steel wire would leave rust marks on our clothing. Stainless steel was the obvious solution. We made our first stainless steel washing line over five years ago and have used it weekly since! Every time we hang the washing out, we know - it just works! So we thought we'd make a business of it.
We know science in our family. Water takes a lot of energy to evaporate it, and so any line drying that can be done to avoid using a tumble dryer, radiators or even a clothes horse indoors, will reduce energy use, save you money and reduce environmental impact. We have a tumble dryer! But even in wet/damp weather, if we can dry our clothes to 80%, it then takes only 1/5th of the energy to finish off a load in the dryer. In winter it's still easy to line dry laundry. Low air humidity can mean that laundry gets really dry! Finish it off in the tumble dryer, on a radiator or in an airing cupboard!
