FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What Are Your Washing Lines Made Out Of?
The most common material we use by far is braided marine grade, highly corrosion resistant stainless steel, with a white polymer coat. The coating makes the lines easily wipeable thereby protecting your clothes. We are currently trialing an uncoated version to see if it doesn't stain laundry. Other fittings are marine grade stainless steel thimbles and pure copper crimps.
How Long Will They Last?
The lines can take an enormous strain and should not stretch or break .....ever?? No more breaks, knots and stretches! We guarantee against breakage for three years, but are as sure as we can be that they won't strecth or break even after 10+ years. Buy Well and Buy Once! Our longest line has been used continuously for over 5 years and shows no real signs of wear..
How do I Clean My Washing Line?
Simple soap and water and a cleaning cloth is all that is required. We use a simple microfibre cloth with water plus a little washing up liquid.
What are the Environmental Benefits of Using a Washing Line?
Evaporating water to dry clothes takes a lot of energy! If you use a tumble dryer, it can take over 4 kWh of electricity to dry a load. Drying on radiators takes more energy and releases the water vapour in to your house. In contrast, drying on a washing line is solar powered - DIRECTLY - and adds a natural freshness that chemical odourants can never do.
Do You Provide a Fitting Service?
Regrettably we can't provide a fitting service because of the geographical distances involved and the wide range of methods for mounting washing lines. Common mounting methods include:
-
Expanding eye brickwork bolts and hooks
-
Wall mounted hook and ring plates
-
Slings and straps around trees, poles and rails
What's Included in the Cost?
-
The costs listed are based on the lengths described and include:
-
Marine-grade braided stainless steel polymer coated cable fitted with two marine-grade stainless steel thimbles and crimped with two copper crimps
-
Two marine-grade stainless steel hooks (to attached the thimbles to your mounting points)
-
A section of marine-grade stainless steel chain to be used with the hooks to adjust the line to the correct tension

How It Works
We will custom make you a stainless steel washing line, sized to your own specification, fit stainless steel thimbles to both ends, crimp the thimbles using corrosion resistant copper crimps and post the completed washing line to you. You will have to send us sizing information, your other preferences and also secure it yourself at home when you receive it.
How We Make Your Washing Line
We first ask you to measure the distance between your mounting points. We will make the washing line slightly under size and include a short length of stainless steel chain and two stainless steel hooks to attach it to your mounting points, so it can be adjusted to the right tension. We can also provide a variety of stainless steel hooks, carabiners, links, etc to help you mount the washing line just as you wish.
WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?
Once cut and fabricated, we can't uncut our washing lines. We will replace a fabricated washing line with clear manufacturing defects free of charge or refund you if you so wish. We can't accept returns that are the wrong size if we were provided with incorrect measurements. In all cases we will try and resolve return requests to ensure our customers' satisfaction.. See Policies page for full details.
